Creating content is a necessary part of getting noticed as a business owner.  We live in a society where social media has become the norm when it comes to getting attention and getting noticed by the public, both young people and older people alike. Considering the fact that most major companies are online and utilizing social media, it stands to reason that creating marketing content is a priority for them. In fact, small businesses can learn from major corporations about the importance of creating valuable content. These days, people are not just looking for valuable content, they are also looking to be entertained and informed. This type of content is referred to as “edutainment” content. However, I like to take it a step further, these days people are also looking for binge-worthy content.

If you’ve ever had a subscription to Netflix, you probably have a good understanding of what I mean by “binge-worthy” content. There are some people who binge watch entire seasons of their favorite TV show on Netflix just for entertainment purposes on a Friday night. The fact is, binge watching anything takes a commitment of time. Most TV shows have anywhere from 12 to 16 episodes in one season.

Most people would equate “binge worthy” content to “going viral” content. And I tend to agree in most cases.

Going viral seems to be a lucky break for the people I have read about who went viral on social media. For most of them “going viral” was totally unexpected.  Although, I’ve never created any content that has “gone viral,” as a marketer I can reasonably deduce that the formula includes a good amount of luck as well as unique, eye-catching content that appeals to your target audience’s emotions. I’d also guess that creating binge-worthy content involves the very same thing.

Below, you’ll find 5 tips about how to create binge worthy content for your brand. Afterall, binge watching doesn’t just have to be for TV.

1.Create a FAQ reel or carousel post.

When you are attempting to get lots of eyeballs on your content, you must learn how to use social media to your advantage. People like pictures and videos. If you create a reel or carousel post answering a FAQ that your dream clients would want to know the answer to, that will more likely get their attention. You can take one question and share multiple pieces of content regarding the topic at hand.

An example of taking one topic and converting different types of content is easy to do no matter what industry you’re in. For example: if you were a hair stylist and inventor of hair growth supplements, you could answer a question about whether or not shampoo with sulfate in it is bad for your hair. Then you could do piece of content about who should use shampoo with sulfates and who should not. Do you see where I’m going with this? You can literally take one question and create multiple posts about it and position yourself as the expert on the topic. Of course, at the end of your blog, video, reel, etc., you can make an offer to sell a information product or the actual shampoo you would like to promote.

2. Create a deep dive post addressing a pain point or desire that your dream clients have.

When you address the biggest problems that your ideal, dreamy clients have in your content, it draws them in and lets them know you understand their needs. Likewise, when you address a deep-rooted desire that your ideal clients have, it draws them in and shows that you understand what makes them happy. Addressing the problems, challenges, likes and desires of your target market, will make them loyal and keep them coming back for more.

3. Leverage content site for creative ideas.

There are so many websites that have content ideas to spark your creative genius. For example, there is a website called, AnswerthePublic.com that gives content suggestions. Sometimes all you need is one suggestion or tip to nudge you in the right direction. You can also look for trends on various subjects on your favorite social media platforms to see what is popular and hot at that time.

4. Use the comment section in your posts to add keywords that will increase searchability for your content.

The comment section in your posts is not just for your followers. You can use it too. Use the comments to spark engagement with your audience by adding keywords that will make your content easy to find. Make sure you use hashtags that are trending on a particular topic that you are sharing.  Most users on any social media platform knows how to use the search bar to find hashtags they are interested in as well as topics that interest them. You can also research websites such as Exploding Topics, Sprout Social, Treendly, and  HootSuite to find out what’s popular and trending.

5. Pay Attention to Page Insights and Post at Peak Times.

Every social media platform offers you data to determine how well your account is performing. You will want to pay attention to the “insights” section of your profile so you can ascertain when your audience is online and when would be the best times to post your content. Sometimes, you might find that your audience is most active at a time when you least expect.  However, that doesn’t mean you have to be glued to your computer or phone posting content at that time, you can simply schedule the content through that app’s scheduling portal or use a service like HootSuite. The bottom line is simply, if you post during times when your audience is more active, you will get more engagement and therefore your content might just become binge worthy.
