Scale Your Business Button

If you’re a business owner and you haven’t thought about scaling your business, it may be time to consider it. That is, only if you already have a thriving business with consistent clients and income.  To scale your business up simply means you are positioning it for massive growth over the long haul.

Being a profitable business owner means that your business can operate without you physically being there and still maintain a profit.  The first time I heard this statement, it was a rude awakening for me because it hit home. I hadn’t realized that I needed to scale my business in this way.  Now I am positioning my business for growth by scaling it for success.

Many entrepreneurs feel like they just need to get the word out about their businesses. Usually they want “brand awareness” before they’ve even built their brands.  Word to the wise, don’t put the cart before the horse. If your business has an unclear brand and your target market is not crystal clear on what you can do for them, you definitely don’t need to scale. You need to market your business first.

Many business owners start a business only to realize there is no way to scale it. If there is no viable way in which to expand your business model, you don’t have a business.  However, if you have a profitable business model with consistent clients and revenue, it may be time for you to consider scaling your business.

Below, I’ve listed 5 tips help you scale your business.

Support

As a business owner you’re going to need internal and external support. First let’s talk about external support.  You must establish key relationships with other business owners who are already where you want to be. Networking and collaborating with other business owners will prove to be advantageous for your business should you ever need partners on a big venture. When you’re in business you need support from a lot of different people.

Secondly, internal support is all about forming the right team of people to help you achieve your business goals. If you haven’t figured out that you can’t do it all by yourself….so or later this reality will hit you like a freight train. You need a team of people to help you. Whether you have full time staff, contractors, freelancers or interns, get a team of people to help you carry out your mission and fulfill day to day operations.

Systems

Creating systems is going to move you a lot quicker towards profitability and efficiency.  As a business owner, you need to create systems for how you operate your business. Creating systems simply means documenting the process by which you accomplish tasks. For example when I am created blog posts: my process looks like this: 1. Brainstorm 2. Strategize 3. Write. 4. Edit. 5. Schedule 6. Promote

What do you need to create systems around? Perhaps you need a better follow up system or a sales funnel system. Creating systems allows you to include all the steps that are necessary to obtain a favorable outcome.

Sponsors

Getting sponsors for your business is tapping into a revenue stream that will yield you big profits. Remember obtaining sponsorships is money you do not have to pay back. It makes sense as a small business owner to form partnership with Fortune 1000 companies as well as locally owned companies that are looking for partnerships with entrepreneurs in your industry. You can get sponsors for a brand, product, project, book tour, event, ezine, non-profit and the list goes on and on. The key of course is figuring out how you can add value to the sponsoring company and being clear about what you can bring to the table for them.

Solutions

Solutions are a big piece to the puzzle in running a profitable business. Here again you have internal and external solutions. Providing solutions internally means you understand how to solve problems within your business. Providing solutions externally means you understand how to solve problems for your customers. Remember people pay to have their problems solved. When you solve problems in your business, you automatically have a profitable business.

Self Care

This is quite self explanatory however, must business owners sacrifice their own self care for the sake of building a business. One thing for sure, if you don’t take care of yourself, you will not be able to scale your business or reap the benefits of building a business.
