In my many years of selling, I have so many lessons, tips and perspectives that I’ve picked up from various sales professionals along the way. One thing I know for sure is that, sales is the lifeline of any business. If you’re not selling you don’t have a business. Because of that reality, I am always so intrigued when so many entrepreneurs turn up their noses and talk about how much they dislike sales and having to sell their products and services. The bottomline is that sales is truly about presenting something of value to someone else who is in need. People with a problem, pain point or pressing issue that they need to get resolved, always go looking for the solution. Most times they clearly understand that the solution they need will cost them something. Afterall, we live in a world of free enterprise with millions of businesses selling a myriad of products and services and rarely are things of high value offered for free.
Something else to consider in regards to sales is that you must be friendly, get people to like you and become persuasive enough to convince people to see things your way. Once you build rapport with your prospect and they know you, like you and trust you, everything else usually flows like butter.

- Listen More Than You Speak – The art of listening in the sales conversation is critical in learning what the prospect is looking for and wants to pay for.
- Show Empathy – You must be willing to show the prospect that you can empathize with their situation and you know something about how to help them resolve their issue.
- Serve with Compassion – Noone wants to feel forced or pushed into anything. When you sell with compassion it is more consultative than pushy and aggressive. Compassion allows the prospect to feel safe.
- Show the Benefit – One of the keys to close a sale, is to touch on the benefits of your product or service. Showcasing the benefit is sometimes the best way to get the prospect to see why they need what you’re offering.
If you follow the above sales strategis you are sure to skyrocket your revenue into high gear. With every sale, you must always show what is unique and different about what you have to offer.
