No matter where you go there will always be rich and poor people in any society. However for the purpose of this blog post, I’ll focus on stories I’ve seen pertaining to people in the United States of America. Of all of the studies done on people who are wealthy or rich and those who are poor or impoverished, it’s interesting that there seems to be a few common denominators for each group that go beyond, race, age, culture and geography. It’s amazing that each segment of people have similar traits and characteristics. One could probably argue that economic climate, education, opportunities, family upbringing and many other factors influence whether or not someone is rich or poor in America these days. However, when I look at people who I consider to be extremely successful, they all appear to have an air about them that depicts an attitude of abundance and a positive mindset. It’s a confidence that I find very attractive. On the other hand, when I see people who are broke and struggling, they also appear to have an air about them that depicts lack and a limited or poor mindset.
I would like to suggest that the difference is attitude or perhaps mindset. Let’s explore the top 3 ways to attract abundance in to your life and business by elevating your attitdude and mindset.
1. Decide to Win
Whatever you do in life as well as in business, it begins with a decision. When I think back on all of the times that I have accomplished goals, made a big impact, closed a big deal and generally speaking felt like I was “really working my mojo;” it all happened because, I decided it was going to (by the grace of God of course.) When we want to accomplish something it’s a desire. When we decide to accomplish something, we’ve made a choice. When we choose to act on our desires, we are putting the wheels in motion. Chances are if you decide that you’re going to win at a particular goal, more than likely you will. Believing in yourself is half the battle. Making a firm decision doesn’t mean that you won’t have to work extra hard or that everything will be easy, it just means that you are willing to do what it takes to win. And so it is with your goals in the business arena.
Whatever your business goals are for the next 12 months, you must simply decide that you will win. Here are a few strategies to make your goals real and actionable.
(A) Write down your goals.
(B) Assign a deadline to each goal.
(C) Create a plan for each goal.
(D) Determine how you will measure your success.
2. Enlarge & Elevate Your Network
The more successful people you know the better your chances are of being pulled in the direction of your goals and dreams. The saying “iron sharpens iron” comes from a bibical passage which states; “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (NIV Translation) This statement simply means that human beings have influence upon one another. When you associate with successful people, their habits, thoughts and beliefs are prone to rub off on you just as the opposite would likely occur if you associated with unsuccessful or “lack-minded” people.
It stands to reason that if you increased and improved your network of “like-minded” people who want success as much as you do, you will eventually achieve that success. People who attract abundance into their lives usually hang around other people who are already successful or are climbing the ladder of success with great ambition.
3. Become More Generous
Generosity is a common trait of people with an abundance mindset. Typically most successful people are willing to share the tips and strategies they used to climb the ladder of success. These people generally write books and record best practices to offer those who wish to follow behind them. Generally speaking, I would suggest that most successful people believe that in order to receive you must give. You cannot receive very much with a closed fist or a closed heart. I believe that true abundance flows to those who have a generous spirit.
Think about ways that you have been generous in your business. Did you offer help to someone who couldn’t afford to pay you? Did you share useful tips with someone who was just starting a business? Or maybe you were a mentor to a student who needed to learn the ropes. Whatever you’ve done to act in a spirit of generosity, the universe is going to deliver that in kind right back to you. This concept is indicative of the universal law of compensation. The Law of Compensation, is the Law of Cause and effect applied to blessings and abundance that are provided for us. The visible effects of our deeds are given to us in gifts, money, inheritances, friendships and blessings.
It stands to reason, that if you want to attract abundance in your life, the above principles will help you do so. That said, make better decisions, elevate your network and practice generosity every day.
Here’s your abundant building assignment:
Determine which area above you need to work on first: your mindset (decisiveness), your network (peer groups), or your generosity (your willingness to give). Once you determine what area you need to focus on, choose 3 activities that you will do to enhance the area you selected. In no time flat, you will more than likely begin to notice shifts in your ability to attract abundance into your life and business.

Hey Lori,
Great article and I totally agree with all 3 points. I don’t think that #3 is controversial at all… not if you truly have a desire to help people and if understand the principle of sowing and reaping or the principles of reciprocity, or the principles behind abundance, as you’ve shared. It’s so easy and natural for me to share ideas with business owners on how they can improve their marketing or their messages when I get in conversation with them without whipping out a service contract on them 🙂 I know that if they are able get something out of what I shared and act on it, then if they ever decide they want to use my copywriting or content marketing strategy services, they’ll think of coming to me first because I was already helpful to them. While I prefer to peruse small to mid-sized organizations as clients, micro-business owners have been coming up to me lately asking for help. While some disagree with me, I decided to create a secondary rate sheet with lowered rates for my services for these types of customers because they simply can’t afford to pay what I charge a business that is more established than theirs. While I’m not making as much money from it, I believe I’m making a difference in their business and I’m making a friend in business… and I trust that it will ultimately come back to me in the way of referrals and connections that will get me to the bigger clients I desire. I trust it will come back to me in other amazing ways as well. It all works together for my good!
Hi Denise, thank you for the comment. Glad you enjoyed this article. For people like me and you who gladly are generous it’s not controversial. But there are some who don’t believe this way and only give once they have received. Continued blessings to you for having a heart of generosity.
I think the hardest part of this for so many is truly understanding the first step. Decide to Win. Once that is ingrained in you and you can return to your belief around that that the rest comes. Thanks for this!
I agree Laura. There are so many people who never make a decision to change things and that’s why they don’t win.
I keep hearing this idea and continue to work on it.
Keep it up Louise, practice makes perfect.
What great reminders Lori!! It’s the law of reciprocity right? What we give we in turn receive 10 fold 🙂
Kelly, yes exactly. Thanks for your comment.
Another great post from you. I know that when I decide what it is that I want and keep that foremost in my mind, it is as if a magic door opens in the universe. Deciding to win has to be the first step, since everything begins with what we think. Being generous is just the other side of receiving and goes naturally together with getting. I am having the hardest time with #2 right now, though.
Thanks so much Lillia.
