The Internet is big business. Many times entrepreneurs miss a few crucial yet very simple steps to getting on line leads and increasing sales. Getting leads on-line is not difficult at all. In fact all you have to do is go back to the basics. If you want to excel in getting more customers from your on line efforts as well as become known as a leader in your industry you must increase your on-line engagement.

 

If you think that getting leads from your on line marketing efforts is not a real possibility, you have definitely been hiding under a rock the last few years. Millions of entrepreneurs and small business owners are using the internet to grow their businesses and their sales by leaps and bounds these days and you can too.  On-line lead generation is not about just having social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Google+. The key to on-line lead generation is engagement, education and building relationships. Know Your Industry – Track trends and competitors and keep up with them. Make sure to stay abreast of the latest trends and news in your industry and niche. Subscribe to trades or periodicals that offer news on your industry. You should always know what the top companies in your industry are doing and how your company stacks up, that is if you are not top in your field yet. Make it a point to follow leaders in your industry on social media sites. Finally, always offer your ideal prospects the hottest news in your industry to educate them on what’s new and different. Educating your prospects and teaching them something they don’t already know, will give you the status of trusted adviser.

Know Your Target Market – In order to serve a specific group of people, you must understand their needs and challenges. What would they do anything and pay anything to have help with? What problem do they have that your product or service addresses? More importantly, what benefits do you provide for them? Do your research and diligently study your target market to understand all there is to know about them. The more you know, the more you can cater your offerings to their needs. And the more you cater to their needs, the more likely they are to buy from you.

Be Visible – Be everywhere your prospects are. Figure out all of the places your ideal prospects and clients hang out and make sure you are there too. Join social media groups. Participate in discussion boards, forums and blogs. Make sure you frequent the same social media sites to get their attention. Before long, you will be well known in the same circles that your ideal prospects are and they will begin to trust you as an expert in your niche and industry. We all know that people buy from those they know, like and trust. In addition, frequency builds recall and consistency builds trust. The more your prospects see you, the more they will remember you and consider doing business with you.
