Decisions button

Have you ever been stuck and unsure about which way to go in your business? Making decisions can be a long, tricky and arduous process at times. However it always helps when you stop to figure out an effective or simply an easier way to accomplish a task…even when the task is making a decision. So that is precisely what I’ve done. I’ve documented the tips I use to determine how to make tough decisions in my business. I’ve found that this process works in life as well. Below I’ve listed 3 easy strategies to help you make great, effective business decisions.

1. Review what worked and what did not work.

Analyze your success, failures and mistakes. Be sure to document your process in each scenario whether it was a win or a loss. Sometimes if we go back and look at our steps we can figure out clues which will provide us with the research that helps us to predict our success or failure. Experience is the best teacher. But if you don’t learn from your experiences, then you have not maximized the lesson.

Another great idea is to record or log information as you go along. For example: it helps to keep a recorded journal or log of big projects or events. Simply writing things down will keep you from having to reinvent the wheel, so when it comes time to decide on how things will be done with similar situations, you have a reference point.

2. Decipher what is priority.

FOCUS. FOCUS. FOCUS. Prioritizing is all about having focus. You must know what the most critical needs of your business are at particular points in time. Focus is something that every business owner needs to have in order to succeed in business.

3. Simply Decide.

Be decisive. Make a decision and don’t proscratinate. If you need to take time to consider the advantages and disadvantages, make sure you weigh all aspects of the decision carefully. There’s nothing worst than making a decision too quickly and then regretting it. On the other hand, you don’t want to take too long to make a decision only to lose a great opportunity. The best thing to do is to figure out an acceptable deadline to make a decision, make it and move on.

Now I’d like to hear from you. What process do you use to make business decisions? Do you have a procedure, checklist, accountability buddie? What do you do? Share your two cents and let’s discuss.
