How-To-Attract-Sponsors-LAM

Getting corporate sponsors to partner with your small business will make doing business easier. However, as a small business owner, you must get “sponsor ready” before a major corporation will allow you to become one of their vendors or suppliers. If you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner who wants to attract sponsors,  there are several factors that you must have, below I’ve listed 4 of them.

1. Reach

You must be able to demonstrate that you have reach with the target audience that the sponsor is looking for. You must be able to show that you have a method of communicating with the audience that the sponsor wants to reach. It’s important to note that the quality of your reach is more important than the quantity of people you reach. Sponsors like to partner with companies who can influence people to buy things.  In particular, corporate sponsors are looking for suppliers who can assist them in reaching a targeted group of people who are dedicated and motivated to engage with their brands on a consistent basis.

2. Responsibility

You must be able to prove that your leadership team takes business seriously and values the responsibility of delivering your brand promise to your target market. Every company whether it is a small business or large corporation, has a leadership team whose job is to steer the company’s mission, goals and overall success. As a leader in your business, you must accept responsibility to share information about your company infrastructure, team members, customer service and much more.

3. Reputation

You must have an impeccable reputation for doing business effectively and efficiently. Being able to provide social proof that you have a good track record goes a long way. It’s one thing if you brag about your company, but it carries a lot more weight when your customers, partners and colleagues give testimonials about how great your company is.

4. Results

You must be able to prove that your company has achieved positive outcomes and measurable results on a consistent basis. If you can demonstrate that your company has gotten results for a specific group of people who have used your product or experienced your services and have great things to say, then you have a track record of results that will attract not only other potential customers but sponsors as well.

Corporate sponsors like to doing business with suppliers and partners who can bring a unique and different approach to the table. If you can demonstrate to a corporate sponsor that you have an innovative way of doing business in your particular industry that is cutting edge or different from what else is out there, you are setting your small business outside from others and definitely will be more attractive as a potential supplier to a corporation.

The great thing about sponsors is that once you’ve secured a sponsor, as long as you keep them happy they are more likely to continue doing business with you.

Now it’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Have you gotten sponsors for your business? What methods did you utilize to get sponsors interested in your company, event or non-profit? Share your success with me. Leave a comment below.
